Parent Leader Story: The Road to 100% Parent Engagement

While participating in the Family Leaders for Ohio Schools Academy at the Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center, Ohio parent Theresa developed the “Road to 100% Parent Engagement” initiative.

The Road to 100% Parent Engagement initiative was created to address the need for increased family involvement at a school in Euclid, Ohio. After consulting with school administrators, Theresa identified a gap in consistent parent engagement and proposed a multi-faceted approach to bridge that divide. The initiative focuses on building stronger connections between families and schools through volunteerism, PTA extensions, and the introduction of a parent café model.

The program’s goal is to achieve full parent engagement throughout the 2025–26 school year. Key strategies include recruiting room parents to serve as liaisons between classrooms and the PTA, promoting volunteer opportunities at school events, and hosting quarterly parent café meet-ups. These cafés will provide a supportive space for parents to connect, share experiences, and learn about topics such as learning disabilities, financial literacy, and community resources.
