Module 5: Advocacy and Collaborating with the Community

Six people each holding his or her right arm out so that each right hand touches

In this module, parents and teachers reflect on their own individual advocacy in parent-teacher partnerships and how they collaborate with the community to support students, families, and staff. Discussion is primarily centered on participants’ experiences as teachers and/or parents in the district, and participants can brainstorm individual and building/district needs in these areas.  At the end of this session, suggestions are gathered to make recommendations to the school leadership team(s) for improvement in advocacy and collaborating with the community.
