What is the Family Leaders for Ohio Schools Academy?

A five-month leadership program that is designed to empower parents and caregivers to be leaders for education.

Participants will experience:

– Online learning modules with independent assignments.

– Virtual meetings with peers.

– In-person gatherings in Columbus, Ohio.

A school project, developed and implemented by participant.

Who is it for?

– Parents and caregivers of children enrolled in a K-12 Ohio public school.

Ideal for individuals who want to make a difference in their local school communities.

Open to anyone that is newly involved in their school or actively involved.

Where does it happen?

– In-person sessions are hosted in Columbus, Ohio.

– Learning modules and additional meetings are online to provide flexibility.

Why does it exist?

To build leadership skills that help families collaborate with school officials and community stakeholders.

To give participants the tools to identify and address local educational needs through practical, school-based projects.

To foster a supportive network of family leaders across Ohio who champion positive change in education.

How much does it cost?

This program is grant funded and is offered at no cost to families.

– Finish all seminar assignments.

– Design and implement final project.
