Individual Professionals Path: Level 1 & 2
Within Reach is an intensive, in-person institute for principals who want to move their school past basic family engagement events and create a system that actually connects with every family. In today’s educational landscape, true partnership is the key to student success. This seminar transforms family engagement by first centering families’ needs and preferences and then planning responsive school strategies to create a robust, research-based framework that reaches every family.

Dates: Tuesday, July 21 to Thursday, July 23, 2026.
Schedule: 8:45 AM to 4:30 PM, with a break for lunch on your own.
Location: Center on Education and Training for Employment, The Ohio State University,
Columbus, OH
Learning Objectives:
- I can design family engagement practices to engage all families of my students more effectively.
- I can explain how the multi-tiered family engagement framework helps my school achieve its goals.
- I can create a Multi-Tiered Family Engagement plan that’s ready to go for my school.
Outcome:
Principals have written a multi-tiered family engagement action plan, ready to go, for the
upcoming year (2026-2027) at their home school.

Details:
- This in-person institute is free, but lodging, meals, and transportation are not included.
- Space is limited, and applicants will be accepted in two rounds: May 6 and June 10.
- You must have the support of your supervisor and your building leadership team.
- Please identify one additional team member (teacher leader, co-administrator, school
counselor, etc.) who will assist you with leading the launch of your family engagement
plan and invite this individual to attend the institute with you. Note: This is a requirement
for acceptance to the Institute, and you will provide their contact details during the
application process. They do not apply separately.
