Individual Professionals Path: Level 3, Option 2
This mini-seminar will focus on program-family partnerships to support students at the adolescent developmental stage (from 10-18). The focus of the mini-seminar will be on understanding this developmental stage and how family engagement strategies must align with students’ needs for more autonomy. Strategies will enhance students’ growing sense of their future selves and help families promote the importance and relevance of learning for career and college readiness. This mini-seminar will focus on school-family partnerships for supporting student literacy development. The seminar will also provide research-based content and resources for supporting family literacy. The seminar is delivered in a flipped instructional model. You will first complete one self-paced online module to build your background knowledge related to family engagement for the specialty. Then you will join an instructor-led online workshop session to apply knowledge to your setting and collaborate with other learners.

- I can describe effective family engagement practices to support college and career readiness.
- I can identify strategies that support families with financial literacy.
- I can create a multi-tiered approach to family engagement plan to support adolescents on a path to success in learning and life.
Outcome: The outcome of this mini-seminar is to create a multi-tiered plan for family engagement to support adolescent development.
