The Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities

The Ohio Coalition for the Education of Children with Disabilities (OCECD) is a statewide nonprofit organization that supports families of children and youth with disabilities, from birth through age 26. Founded in 1972, OCECD serves as Ohio’s federally designated Parent Training and Information Center (PTI), helping families understand special education services and advocate for their children’s needs.

OCECD’s staff—many of whom are parents or family members of individuals with disabilities—bring personal experience and professional knowledge to their work. With 28 staff members in 15 offices across Ohio, they offer support by phone, online, and in person.

Through OCECD programs, resources, and training, families can learn about their rights, prepare for school meetings, and connect with community resources. The organization also helps young people with disabilities build self-advocacy skills so they can speak up for themselves in school and in life.

Families should feel free to reach out to OCECD at any point of their special education journey.
