Out-of-School Time Family Engagement Seminar

Through a series of four engaging, self-paced modules, this seminar equips youth-serving out-of-school-time professionals with the expertise to implement high-quality, evidence-based strategies to engage families in their programs.

Learn why family engagement matters and how to describe the conditions of family engagement.

Learn how to build trust and meaningful engagement, how to apply universal design principles, the five key roles in multi-tiered family engagement, and how to utilize a funds of knowledge inventory to discover the unique strengths and preferences of diverse families.

Learn more about research-based family engagement strategies for your topic of choice- Adolescent Development, Literacy, Student Mental Health, Workforce Readiness, Special Education, or Improving Student Attendance.

Learn to design and implement a multi-tiered family engagement plan by describing different levels of support, utilizing data to determine the need for change, and recognizing specific indicators that signal a necessary adjustment in frequency, intensity, or practice.

Outcome: The outcome of this seminar is to create a multi-tiered plan for family engagement to support student learning and development in your out-of-school time program.

Contact Hours: 20 per module, equivalent to 2 Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
