The Ohio Department of Education and Workforce was awarded a $60 million Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant from the U.S. Department of Education in 2024. This funding supports Ohio districts, schools, and early care and education programs by providing intensive and targeted support. The grant funded project has the following goals: 1) professional learning; 2) coaching; 3) leadership support; 4) multi-tiered systems support; and 5) family and community engagement.
Between 2025-2029, our Family Engagement Center will provide Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) Grantees, and state/regional staff who support them, with a suite of professional learning, coaching, and online tools for high-quality family engagement. Specifically, we are offering two professional learning seminars and differentiated coaching services to two cohorts of grantees, a family engagement toolkit with existing and new resources for families and educators, and support for demonstrating statewide impact for Ohio CLSD. Our team will co-present at Ohio’s Literacy Academy alongside districts who are implementing new family engagement plans and practices resulting from our seminars.
We are committed to ensuring that the educators who take our seminars and receive coaching and other resources will be able to develop and implement multi-tiered family engagement in literacy plans, including two-way communication strategies that support student literacy.
