“Almost 90% of parents think their kids are at grade level. 50% of kids actually are.” – Learning Heroes
This tells us that our education system (including families, schools, and community partners) can improve a lot in how we talk about student progress.
The team from Learning Heroes has resources for parents/caregivers and educators/partner agencies to have conversations together that go beyond grades to track student learning and development.
Examples of what you will find
- A resource for families called “Questions to Ask Your Child’s
Teacher About Reading.” - A “Playbook for Educators, Service Providers & Advocates” about having conversations with families related to how they can support their child when they suspect or learn that their child has learning difficulties. The Playbook includes things like “Messaging Guidance.”
