The National Association for Family, School, and Community Engagement has developed an Educator Preparation Framework for Family and Community Partnerships. The purpose of the report is to provide guidance on how to meaningfully prepare educators to engage with families.
Here are their top 5 recommendations:
- Co-design educator preparation programs with families, schools, districts, and communities;
- Incorporate the knowledge, assets, insights, and wisdom of families and communities in educator preparation;
- Refocus coursework and field experiences to offer dedicated family engagement courses;
- Embed family engagement coursework throughout the educator preparation curriculum;
- Provide education candidates meaningful clinical experiences with families and communities;
