Karen Stansberry Beard is an Associate Professor and Educational Administration Program Chair and an Educational Policy affiliate at The Ohio State University. She teaches School and Community Relations; The Social and Political Context of Education; Positive Psychology in Educational Administration; and Leadership, Inquiry and Ethics.She researches educational administration and organizational leadership development, positive psychology and related constructs (e.g. flow and academic optimism) and policy implementation supportive of cross-cultural understanding and achievement gap reduction. Karen holds the 2009-10 William Loadman Research Award for Educational Administration; 2 teaching awards from The Ohio State University (2018) and Miami University of Ohio (2014); and Urban Education’s (2017) outstanding service award. Her publications have been recognized nationally and internationally yielding hundreds of citations.
