The U.S. Department of Education has released updated non-regulatory guidance for Parent and Family Engagement under Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as Amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (revised January 2025). Non-regulatory guidance means that there are not new laws, but the document is instead intended to help with implementing existing laws.
The purpose of this guidance is to assist State Education Agencies (SEAs), Local Education Agencies (LEAs), and schools in engaging families as part of the provisions of Title 1, Part A. This part of Title 1 aims to provide all children with equitable and high-quality educational opportunities.
