In this May 2024 journal article published in Phi Delta Kappan, Ohio Statewide Family Engagement Center staff and colleagues describe the student role in family-school partnership informed by Joyce Epstein’s Overlapping Spheres of Influence. From there, the article proposes a tiered approach to organizing student voice in family-school partnerships, then applies this approach to a real-world initiative carried out by an Ohio school. This article pairs well with our research brief, Family Engagement with Students at the Center.
