About the Council
Our State Advisory Council is made up of a group of about 50 representatives. This includes parents, grandparents, foster parents, adoptive parents, and other caregivers from urban, rural, and suburban areas. The council also includes school leaders, representatives of community organizations, and ambassadors from businesses and other community agencies.
Council members…
- Attend 4 meetings per year (virtual or in Columbus, Ohio) to learn from others and share their experiences from their own communities and organizations.
- Participate in Council discussions and activities, guiding and informing the work of the Center with their rich and diverse perspectives.
- Create new resources for families and schools.
- Engage with their community and are enthusiastic ambassadors for the Center.
What former members have said about their time spent on the council:
“Your organization has had such an impact on me and I truly appreciate the opportunity to work with your teams and the council members. I walked away from every event with new knowledge and respect for our families and their impact on education, and your role as an advocate for strong relationships across the preK-20 education landscape.”
“I am becoming a better school parent because of this Family Engagement program.“
If you are interested in becoming a member of our council, we recruit new members each year in the Fall. For more information, please contact OhioSFEC@osu.edu.
