Our toolkits provide parents and caregivers with practical, research-based tips and examples on a variety of topics.

Literacy
For each age group, parents will find learning milestones, learning at home resources, ideas for communicating with your child’s school including questions to ask, and ways to get help as you advocate for your child’s learning needs.

Supporting a Child with a Disability
Every child learns in their own way, and for some, a little extra support—like special education services—can open up new possibilities. This toolkit contains the following sections: My Child May Have a Disability, Partnering with My Child’s School, We are Navigating a Change, Planning for Life After School, I Need One-on-One Support, and What are My Rights?

Middle School Transition
Family engagement in education doesn’t stop after elementary school. It’s just as important, but it looks and sounds different. Our toolkit contains 7 research-based tips for supporting your middle school child.

Career Development
As families are a primary influence in their child’s career development, it is important that they feel comfortable talking with their children about what they are learning. We want to help you keep conversations light and fun, focusing on easy ways to make those connections at home. Using this resource, you can download conversation starters on 3 main topics: students’ interests and strengths, their exploration of careers, and their use of resources in the community.

Mental Health
Download 5 research-based tips for supporting your child’s mental health and well-being in partnership with their school. We also share stories and quotes from Ohio families, about the daily ways they support their child and partner with their school to ensure they are able to learn and grow.

Finances
Money Talks is a short, family-friendly online series about talking to your middle school child about money. For each of 5 topics, you will find conversation starters to use at home with your child(ren), quotes from parents/caregivers like you, games, activity ideas, and other resources.Â
