Dr. Karen Stansberry Beard

Karen Stansberry Beard is an Associate Professor and Educational Administration Program Chair and an Educational Policy affiliate at The Ohio State University. She teaches School and Community Relations; The Social and Political Context of Education; Positive Psychology in Educational Administration; and Leadership, Inquiry and Ethics.She researches educational administration and organizational leadership development, positive psychology and related constructs (e.g. flow and academic optimism) and policy implementation supportive of cross-cultural understanding and achievement gap reduction. Karen holds the 2009-10 William Loadman Research Award for Educational Administration; 2 teaching awards from The Ohio State University (2018) and Miami University of Ohio (2014); and Urban Education’s (2017) outstanding service award.
