Individual Professionals Path: Level 3, Option 1
This specialty seminar will focus on school-family partnerships for supporting student literacy development. The seminar will also provide research-based content and resources for supporting family literacy. The seminar is delivered in a flipped instructional model. You will first complete one self-paced online module to build your background knowledge related to family engagement for literacy. Then you will join an instructor-led online workshop session to apply knowledge to your setting and collaborate with other learners.
Learning Objectives:
- I can identify what families are already doing to support literacy.
- I can describe effective home-based literacy practices.
- I can identify strategies that support families with shared literacy.
- I can create a multi-tiered approach to family engagement plan to support student outcomes in literacy.
Outcome: The outcome of this specialty seminar is to create a multi-tiered plan for family engagement to support student literacy.
